Oppurtunity for Mental Health Counselor

HELP WANTED:FLOOD DISASTER RELIEF CRISIS COUNSELORS

Temporary Part-Time and Full-Time
Schoharie & Schenectady Counties

The Schoharie County Office of Community Services is in IMMEDIATE NEED of Temporary Part-Time and/or Full-Time Crisis Counseling Outreach Workers to provide outreach and crisis counseling to individuals in Schenectady and Schoharie Counties who have been directly or indirectly affected by the recent flooding.

These positions are temporary and scheduled to start almost immediately with training provided by FEMA

Responsibilities can include (but not limited to):
 *   Providing crisis counseling to a diverse population.
 *   Making referrals for needed therapeutic services.
 *   Assisting with community outreach events.
 *   Disseminating informational packets and brochures.
 *   Completing all necessary documentation.

Requirements:
 *   Bachelor’s Degree in a Human Service field preferred.
 *   Experience in Mental Health preferred.
 *   Crisis Counseling experience preferred.
 *   Knowledge of the community is important.
 *   Initiative, focus and stamina are key.
 *   Strong communication and organization skills are a must.
 *   A vehicle and a valid NYS driver’s license is a must.
