Deadline Arpproaching for 2010 NYSSCA Graduate Student Scholarship

2010 NYSSCA Graduate Student Scholarship


To help future school counselors fulfill their educational goals, the New York State School Counselor Association awards scholarships to graduate students each year who are currently enrolled in a New York State accredited master's-level school counseling program. This year NYSSCA will award FIVE $500 scholarships!


Scholarships are awarded based on students' academic achievement, letters ofrecommendation and an essay response to the question,


"Given the evolution of the school counseling profession and the emphasis in
education on accountability, how should school counselors be held accountable
for fulfilling their duties and responsibilities?"

Qualifications:
* Applicants must be current members of NYSSCA.

* Applicants & recipients must be currently matriculated & in good standing in an accredited graduate school program for school counseling, having completed at least one semester.

* The recipients must provide NYSSCA with a photograph for publication in the NYSSCA newsletter and/or on the NYSSCA website.Timelines:
* Completed application due by April 3, 2010

* Recipients will be notified by April 24, 2010

* Monies will be sent to recipients by June 30, 2010 pending receipt of photograph postmarked by 6/14/10

Substitute positions available

The Capital Region BOCES Substitute Service is currently accepting applications for per diem teaching positions in more than eighty-six component schools located in the Albany, Schenectady, and Schoharie counties.

The School Support Services, a division of the Capital Region BOCES, utilizes an automated solution that integrates database records with Interactive Voice Response (IVR) and browser-based technology. Substitute teachers have access to jobs via Internet and/or telephone.

Eligibility requirements for per diem substitute positions include the following:

• Possession of a Bachelors Degree or completion of student teaching with graduation to follow,
• Completion of all application materials,
• Interview and reference check,
• Adherence to NYSED OSPRA’s state fingerprinting requirement, and
• Haz Com attendance during the current school year.
