Fundraiser for The Albany Damien Center

The Graduate Association of Counseling and Student Affairs at The College of Saint Rose
are teaming together to raise funds for the Albany Damien Center


Where: C.H. Brewing Company at the Albany Pump Station
When: November 12, 2013, 4:00pm-10:00pm
Why: On August 29, 2013, the Albany Damien Center sustained serious damage after a fire broke out causing the Center to shut its door at the South Lake location.

The Albany Damien Center is a community center for individuals and families living with and affected by HIV/AIDS.  Programs and activities offered are designed to improve health, reduce stress, and increase quality of life.

Currently, the Albany Damien Center is temporarily operating out of the First Lutheran Church on Western Avenue in Albany, NY.

25% of your total bill will be donated from the Albany Pump Station to the Albany Damien Center to help the Center continue to provide services to those in need.

6:45 – 7:30 PM Using Expressive Arts to Foster Client Identity and Development

  • Dr. Mardie Howe Rossi, LMHC, Registered Expressive Arts Therapist (REAT)
    • Dr. Rossi will provide hands-on counseling techniques and activities that can be utilized to help clients develop and discover their personal identity, while exploring barriers that may be inhibiting their growth and development.

7:30 – 8:00 PM Networking with Colleagues

This event is FREE to all American Counseling Association members who live or work in New York State, and ACA members can earn 1.5 CEUs for attending.

2 Job Openings!

Rehabilitation Support Services is hiring two case coordinators for the Apartment Program. The shift is Tues-Sat or Sun-Thurs. The pay is $12.55 an hour with great benefits, 40 hours a week. There would be a case load of about 10-11 clients who you would go see in their home around the community (all in good areas) and you would be assisting the client with basic skills and goals that the client wants to work on.

If you are unable to attend the full conference, there are options to attend the Graduate Student Pre-Conference Sunday, October 6th as well as “Monday Only” registration for the main conference.  The Graduate Pre-Conference is only $55 and includes lunch as well as information session offered by faculty members, administrators, and even the CSPA President.  You have the opportunity for a resume review with a full-time administrator or faculty member and the ability to participate in a Case Study Competition.
