ACA NY just celebrated our 2nd anniversary!

We are excited to announce two upcoming events in the New York City Area. 

• On Monday November 11, 2013 from 6-8 pm Dr. Michelle Perepiczka, RPT-S and Dr. Gabriel Lomas, RPT-S will provide a workshop on Play Therapy for the Counseling Professional and how Play Can be used with Traumatized Children. The workshop will be held at New York Institute of Technology 16 West 61st St (between Broadway and Columbus). • Finally, on Tuesday February 18, 2014 Dr. Ann M. Ordway,J.D. and Dr. Michelle Perepiczka will be presenting Expecting the Unexpected: Preparing for court involvement and testimony in routine counseling practice.The workshop will be held at New York Institute of Technology Old Westbury (Long Island) Campus at the Hall of Fame in the Sports Complex from 6-8 pm.

Job Opportunity: Master's Admissions Counselor/Coordinator

Master's Admissions Counselor/Coordinator

Palo Alto University is seeking a full time Admissions Coordinator to coordinate the recruitment and counseling of students into our Global Online and Residential Evening programs in psychology and counseling. Work includes:

• Contacting prospective students by phone and email and shepherding them through from initial interest to application, to admissions and enrollment
• Tracking prospective students entering recruiting and admissions data
• Providing weekly reports and updates to the Admissions and Master’s Directors
• Project management of all online admissions website pages and forms to create a smooth admissions process
• Coordinating phone interviews with Program Directors and Financial Aid Counselors
• Coordinating application materials, particularly from international students who submit transcripts through WES
• Leading and managing the Admission Committee process, and
• Supporting the master's team with online and traditional marketing efforts.

Qualifications include: 

• Master’s Degree in Counseling (ideally CACREP accredited school, and college guidance emphasis)
• Strong interpersonal skills and verbal communication
• Strong organizational and process skills
• Knowledge and experience in using social media and website contact and emails to interact with prospective students
• Knowledge of psychology and social sciences a big plus, and
• Proficiency with Word and Excel is required, and large comfort level with learning new computer and software programs to manage data.

Level of Responsibility:

• This position is held accountable for meeting goals in a data-driven environment as well as accurately representing all information related to student enrollment, program requirements, costs, and financial aid to applicants and the public
• The person holding this position must become familiar with all aspects of the campus community and academic programs, must have the ability to make independent decisions, must adhere to federal and institutional guidelines and policies, and must be able to identify when supervisory assistance is required 
• Supervision of marketing vendors, student workers, or other staff may be required

Fundraiser for The Albany Damien Center

are teaming together to raise funds for the Albany Damien Center

Where: C.H. Brewing Company at the Albany Pump Station

When: November 12, 2013, 4:00pm-10:00pm

Why: On August 29, 2013, the Albany Damien Center sustained serious damage after a fire broke out causing the Center to shut its door at the South Lake location.

The Albany Damien Center is a community center for individuals and families living with and affected by HIV/AIDS.  Programs and activities offered are designed to improve health, reduce stress, and increase quality of life.

Currently, the Albany Damien Center is temporarily operating out of the First Lutheran Church on Western Avenue in Albany, NY.

25% of your total bill will be donated from the Albany Pump Station to the Albany Damien Center to help the Center continue to provide services to those in need.

Rehabilitation Support Services is hiring two case coordinators for the Apartment Program. The shift is Tues-Sat or Sun-Thurs. The pay is $12.55 an hour with great benefits, 40 hours a week. There would be a case load of about 10-11 clients who you would go see in their home around the community (all in good areas) and you would be assisting the client with basic skills and goals that the client wants to work on.
