Infant Adoption Training Announcement

Seton Health/St. Mary’s Hospital and Adoption STAR are pleased to announce an exciting, U.S. Department of Health and Human Services-approved, FREE training opportunity for healthcare or helping professionals (and students) entitled "Understanding Infant Adoption." The training is designed to help attendees learn how to discuss adoption as an option when interacting with patients or clients who are in the midst of an unexpected or unintended pregnancy and are not sure they are able to parent the child. The goal of the training is to review current adoption practice, policy and law and to develop appropriate non-directive counseling tools.

Interested individuals can attend one of the three training sessions that are being offered at various times over the course of two days – 8/12/10 and 8/13/10. Please see the attached flyer for more details regarding specific times and locations.

Both nurses and social workers will qualify for contact hours as part of the training. Specified other health care professionals may also be eligible to receive contact hours for this training. All participants will receive a certificate of completion after completing the course.

If you'd like to attend the training, please visit www.iaatp.com, click on the “Click here to register for Trainings” section in the upper right corner of the homepage, and follow instructions from there.

If you have any questions or concerns (or encounter any difficulty with the registration process), please contact me at 716-639-3900 or at michael@adoptionstar.com. Space is limited, so register soon!

Sincerely,

NYMHCA

The Capital Region Chapter of NYMHCA is having a meeting on Wednesday, July 28, 2010 from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM. This will take place at St. Anne Institute, 160 North Main Avenue, Albany, NY 12206. We would be happy to welcome St. Rose Counseling students to the meeting. Our chapter can be found on Facebook by searching on the main page of Facebook for "Capital Region NYMHCA". We also could be found on www.nymhca.org and people may click the "Regional Chapters" link to then find us as "Capital Region Chapter".

We have recently been getting the Capital Region going again, after it had not been actively running for a few years. As new students are entering counseling graduate programs and graduating students are entering the field, we are finding a new energy and excitement for this Chapter. We encourage students to attend a couple of meetings to learn what this is all about. Thank you for passing on this information. Let me know if there is anything we may be able to offer to students.

Co-President of Capital Region NYMHCA Chapter

Help Wanted

I am looking to hire one or more compassionate, responsible students to provide at home supervision/ companionship for my wife who has suffered a traumatic brain injury. She is a retired Professor of Communication Disorders and as such has spent a career mentoring young women and still has much to offer but cannot be left alone. I need coverage beginning the first of Sept, Mon., Tues, Wed from 9am to 6pm with a little flexibility to make it work. The house is very comfortable and well appointed and is located in Chatham about 35 min. from campus. Duties are light providing plenty of time to study and no nursing duties are needed. Pay is $10/hr. References and a clean drivers' license are a must. William E. Deily days 518-828-4101 weekends 518-392-4474 E-mail wedeily@verizon.net
